You must have saved the texture edit in the wrong format, to get an error like that.

man you're on fire! but one question bounces through my mind: what happens when you put on the small clothing stuff? (sunglasses, hats and so on) It should go back to Chuck's head if I had to guess. I'm not exactly sure about that, though. I haven't tried. I just now if you try to put on new clothes, it WILL go back to chuck's body, for that part.

This is my 5th model swap release. There will be plently more It's simple..really. Thanks to our new tools, I was able to replace Katee over Chuck, and with alot of messing around with the skeleton, I worked out nearly all the flaws and kinks with it. It's almost perfect, but it'll have to do. Unfortunately I was never able to pin down Chuck's "Grunt" sounds, so chucks sounds are still in-tact, I hope to replace these as some point. Katee only works using chuck's DEFAULT Clothes, if your character is all dressed up, your best off going to your safe room's locker, and putting on all the default clothes from there. (Locker is in the save room) Images: Download: www.4shared.com/file/iaEab3KQ/Play_as_Katee.htmlHow to Install: 1. Extract the archive you just downloaded with 7zip, or Winrar 2. Download these tools, so you can make a playable file: deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dr2tools&action=display&thread=213. On your PC, go to "C:\Program Files\CAPCOM\Dead Rising 2\data\models" You'll see a Npcs.BIG, Copy this file. 4. Go to where you downloaded & extracted the tools, paste Npcs.BIg into the folder. Click'n' Drag the file over "Gibbed.DeadRising2.Unpack.exe" Give the program time to extract it. 5. Once the extraction is done, place the 3 files you downloaded for the mod, which are "bigfile.xml, chest_default.big, and chest_default.TEX" into the extracted NPCS folder. 6. Now we need to re-pack the Npcs.BIG, so click'n'drag the NPCS folder onto "Gibbed.DeadRising2.Pack.exe" Give it time to repack, depending on the power of your PC, it can take anywhere from 1-3 minutes to repack fully. Once the black window dissapers, you know it's complete. 7. Place your new modded Npcs.BIG back where you originally found it. Which is : C:\Program Files\CAPCOM\Dead Rising 2\data\models 8. Take the "Data" folde you downloaded with the mod, copy, and paste it here: C:\Program Files\CAPCOM\Dead Rising 2 This will fix up Chuck's skeleton to fit a Female much better. Now enjoy the mod! Thanks for downloading! Sorry for the long Install process, there is nothing I can do about it to make it more simple. You'll get use to it

Awesome! Glad to have Ms.Chang have more screen time! Would there be any way to have her 1 - Replace Stacy 2 - Be your A.I. partner for most fo the game ? Aside from that, Thanks Wizard! The game keeps getting better and better! 1.Yeah it's very possible to have her replace Stacey. 2. I don't think there is AI like that in the game to replace her with....sorry

In the repack you never got rid of the other body parts of Chuck, so they are still there clipping / interfering with the part of the model you did actually swap. That's why

I saw this DMC4 mod that let you play with Lady, but she still had Dante's voice (there's no Lady's voice for attacks recorded), and well that ruined the mod (at least for me). Well, as long as she sounds like any girl, of her same age of course, it's ok. Maybe you could use the voice of one of the female survivors, if it's even possible. Keep the good work Wizard! Yeah I know exactly what you mean there. I've collected a bunch of "Grunts" from female survivors already, but I can't seem to find Chuck's "Grunt" sounds. I found some of them in audio/chuck.big, when I replace them it doesn't seem to have any effect, so those must not be it...

I just spent the last while massing together skeleton parts into 1 fullbody skeleton file, so basically it's a Female main character skeleton file, so hey look perfect =]
It will look weird on guys, it's meant for females. I'll release this with Rebbecca and Stacey both.

Everything is perfect EXCEPT for a small issue with the hands. The finger part of the hands seem to be bent all out of shape...not sure why. Going to try and swap skeletons, and see what happens.

hey wiz, do you know where to find chuck himself and his cloths? and more important, how to edit them (texture-wise .. I extracted the katana-.tex-file and there are only some strange files without any ending in it - also tried to convert the .tex-files directly with the RE5-arctool .. no positive results) I sure do. He's in the Npcs.BIG File I haven't messed with it yet using this tool, I was just about to actually. If you could give me a while I could give you more direct details on it all. I can tell you chucks default outfit is very easy to pick out, for example like "Chest_Default.BIG" Is the model to his default clothes, which is his Jacket. We can extract the .TEX files by renaming them .BIG and using the tool. .TEX is nothing more then .BIG The texture format in the game is .BCT We have a way of converting .BCT to .DDS, but no way of getting it back to .BCT. We'll need a special tool / script for this.

Also when I was ripping some textures,i saw Case Zero files, and textures....if it is possible to activate those files it would be great.... Yeah I noticed this same thing, but it seems from what I've found so far, all that is left behind from Case Zero is just a few minor textures, none of the actual content.

I finnally extract the right file (Npc.big ), but i'm feeling stupid... i really don't know what to do with... for example "chest_defaut.big, chest_defaut.tex" How can i extract textures (like dds or something) I really want to test some Texture Edit, but i'm a novice in this kind of method... Use the Dr2TextureConvert.bms script on the .TEX file just like you did with the .BIG itself. If your going to want to actually see the texture edits in game, use TexMod like I describe in the other tutorial

Well, sadly I got nothing but bad news (yay..........)
We've yet to find any way to successfully get a modded file in-game. We've tried all kinds of different things (me and chrrox) and all we get is...nothing. (Almost)
Our latest try was to redirect the main .BIG files in the EXE, only does this break saving on the official game's EXE, it also seems to cause alot of crashes!
The only thing I've successfully redirected is the Zombies.BIG file, and when I do, it breaks animations lol..
So yeah, even though the files themselves are easy to mod, actually getting the game to use them, is the exact opposite.
Chrrox talked to someone he knows, and the guy said the EXE has very heavy protection on it, to attempt to avoid cheating. (Yet trainers are still made lol) We are not even sure if a Repacker will fix this, with how it's acting up.
So it's possible we may never mod the game to the extent we want at this point, we'll need some really talented people to basically disable all this protection in the EXE, and then maybe it'll work out better, still can't say for sure. We've had game crashes over a simple folder being made (even if it's a empty folder)
Sorry for the bad news guys..really wish I had something good to say lol

I know I'm not the only one who prefers to play games Windowed most of the time, so I did some research and I ended up finding a really cool tool that allows you to use nearly ANY windows program, in windowed! This program was just recently updated because of Darksiders not having a windowed option, so it works on most modern programs. Download the program here: www.sendspace.com/file/njg2vp It's very easy to use, just extract the file, boot up dxwnd.exe Go to Edit, then Add Pick your games.EXE. Leave DirectX version to hook set to Automatic (At least for DR2) Click OK click the new file line you just added in the window, either double click it to boot it up, or right click on it and hit "Execute" From here, the game should boot up in windowed mode. You can scale the screen properly to ANY size you want, by hitting the "Start" button on your keyboard to pop you out of the game, move your mouse over to a corner of the box, then click'n'drag it to the size you want. Enjoy And thanks to who ever made this tool lol Update from anno1404: See these instructions here to play without DXWnd

This is my very first mod release for Dead Rising 2 PC. It's a simple mod I did, to start getting a feel to modding the game better. This outfit ONLY works with Chuck's original outfit. Since we have no way of repacking files (YET) I made this mod using TexMod, don't worry, it's really simple to use as a mod still Here is the original version of the outfit, textures were taken straight from Re5 PC, reworked a little bit to look better on Chuck, and put into the game. This is the black edition of the outfit Download(s) Original Outfit: www.sendspace.com/file/h33jqjBlack Edition: www.sendspace.com/file/9zr1wqHOW TO USE / INSTALL Download TexMod: (Very small download) www.bigdownload.com/games/texmod/pc/texmod/1.Once you have downloaded Texmod, Extract the ZIP 2. Boot up TexMod.EXE (If your using Vista or Windows 7, you may need admin status to use program properly) 3. The program will auto-boot up in the "Packing Mode" tab, In the top left corner you'll see a folder. Click this, and select DeadRising2.EXE (you should know your installation location) 4. Once you have the game selected, Go down a bit and you'll see a smaller folder icon, click this, and this is where you pick the mod you want to use. Go to where you downloaded the mod on your PC , and select the .TPF file. 5. Now you have the mod selected! When your ready, click "RUN", and enjoy the mod! (Anyone is welcome to copy and paste this list above in there own TexMod reskin releases) -Wizard

you can download "Dead Rising 2 v1.0 + 14 Trainer" which has an 'indestructible weapons' cheat The fact they already have trainers that powerful before the game even comes out is going to completely ruin multiplayer. The biggest cheater wins! Whoo!

Hey Wiz can you reupload the tools in another site Im having some problems with sendspace EDIT: Nevermind i have the files now But what is the .BIg that contain the textures? That depends what your going after IF you want characters textures, then your going to need to extract Npcs.BIG in the Models folder. From there, you'll see every Character / model has a .TEX that corresponds with it (It's easy to tell by name) If you need further assistance, don't be afraid to ask!

We're getting further into more advancing modding of the game. We should have a Repacker sometime soon, after that, you'll be seeing mod releases like crazy from me B) We'll be able to do pretty much w/e we want with the game after the repacker is out. Update by anno1404On October 4, 2010, dany25 found Gibbed's tools created by Gibbed. Gibbed's tools allowed the community to unpack, modify, then repack Dead Rising 2 files.
