 [TOOLS] Extract .BIG & Rebuild .BIG Gibbed

I found the tools for extracting and rebuild the .BIG files not made by me here:

is there some kind of readme for this available (for all the other things)?

I swapped the katana from the twins-fight over the regular broadsword

screens taken at the entrance of the americana-casino ... the katana doesn't fully fit the plate where the broadswords hangs normally but it works such as the normal one (broadsword).




hey wiz, do you know where to find chuck himself and his cloths? and more important, how to edit them (texture-wise .. I extracted the katana-.tex-file and there are only some strange files without any ending in it - also tried to convert the .tex-files directly with the RE5-arctool .. no positive results)

He's in the Npcs.BIG File
I haven't messed with it yet using this tool, I was just about to actually. If you could give me a while I could give you more direct details on it all.

I can tell you chucks default outfit is very easy to pick out, for example like "Chest_Default.BIG" Is the model to his default clothes, which is his Jacket.

We can extract the .TEX files by renaming them .BIG and using the tool. .TEX is nothing more then .BIG

The texture format in the game is .BCT
We have a way of converting .BCT to .DDS, but no way of getting it back to .BCT. We'll need a special tool / script for this.

I wonder if anyone else is having the issue where the Game Engine crashes on Exit after recompiling and inserting a *.big file back into the Game? It may be just caused by my poor scripting though.

Edit: It's no big deal, I normally exit with ALT+F4.

I've got a problem.
I replaced the default_chest.big and default_chest.tex with svr_allen.big and svr_allen.tex

Basically, i replaced chuck with allen, the guy with tatoos from the rock heroes mission.

the body its ok, but chuck's head its still there, over allen's head, the result = a ugly face :-/

I had the same problem with the legs, chuck normal pants was in the same place as allen's, but i replaced the default_leg.big and default_leg.tex with svr_allen.big and svr_allen.tex (same as i did with the chest) and it worked but i don't know what to do with the face, i have not seen any default_face or something.

Any help would be appreciated. ::)

Hey all, i am having some major issues. After it taking a long time to actually be able to unpack, i keep running into a failure when packing. I am not sure if its because of windows 7 or what. I get the "unhandleded exception" error at the top, then windows force closes the program. Any ideas?

I am going to try on my laptop, it has windows xp. But error keeps saying program has stopped responding.

The top line says could not find boss_boykin.big file. I checked the folder, there is a boss_boykin.txt file.

My tools don't have many checks on them when it comes to accessing files, etc. Make sure it has the proper access and the files exist.

Aside from that, if you can post a stack trace of the exception that would show me what's wrong.

I have no clue how to post the stack trace, the program closes immediately afterwards. I can click ok, but the box is too small to see all of the text... or even the majority of it.

I will see if i can find out anything more tonight when i work on it. Thank you for the quick response.

When i tried it on XP, it did the same thing. Having problems finding boss_boykin.big file, yet it is in the folder i am packing. Could it be because i am not running it from steam, but i have the "windows live" version? Surely the files are the exact same.

Make sure you have Java installed :)
I once had this problem and Java fixed it, for me.

When I unpack "Bin" in normal way, there is no unpack.EXE...and the svn folder isnt there too, what I make false?
