In this topic I'll be updating it with all the mod progress we make so members know what we can do, and what we still have to learn!
At this current time, the only real mods we can do are pretty basic. We can use TexMod to make Reskins
More about that here:
deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dr2tuts&action=display&thread=5&page=1
We can also Extract the .BIG filess, and rip textures from the .TEX Files (Which are Inside the BIG Files) thanks to Chrrox QuickBMS Scripts, you can find that here:
deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dr2tools&action=display&thread=4
As any modder would know after looking through the files inside of the .BIG's, most of the files are in very simple formats! While actually modding the files is really simple, getting them to be loaded by the game is the current problem!
The game does not look for files outside of the .BIG's first, nor do we have any way of re-directing the .BIG's to look for files outside of themselves, so basically for us to really start modding the game we need some sort of .BIG Repack.
Once we have a way to Repack them, we'll be able to mod the game like crazy
Update by anno1404 Thread Locked please go to:
Reskins with Hex editor
expanded and clarified instructions on how to create reskins directly, without texmod.
Reskins with Texmod
Using TexMod
Pack and repack files
Gibbed's tools allows the community to unpack, modify, then repack Dead Rising 2 files. See tutorial.
