I am moving this to tutorials and sticking it, this is awesome. thank you. See also: Mod:Changing_Text for a tutorial on changing the text in the game. Also spider3po wrote: To work with .bcs, use this bcs to txt converter (it converts both ways). Note, I did not make it. I got it from Xentax, where a lot of talented programmers hang out. It's made by bacter. So, if you've got an account on Xentax, you can thank this user. It also doesn't hurt to offer content to Xentax.
spider3po did not provide a link. nevermind, it is: BCSTXTv02.rar above. I strongly encourage you to create a tutorial about what you have learned thus far, here on this wiki: Mod:Create_new_article Thus far, Moloko, Tom, Dengarde, otherworldbob, and Utrbi have all created tutorials. We need a central place where we can all brainstorm missions. you can start now, or Let me know if you are interested in doing this, and i can create a page, and help you along....

Two updates: From: deadrisingwiki.com/wiki/WingmanNeither the nectar nor the queen are labeled with the wrench icon that other combination items are seen with, indicating that it is a secret Combo Weapon. So I am going to go into items.txt and see what makes these ingredients special. Also, from: Modify_weapons:Creating a new Combo cardYou can remove the combo card sections of items.txt which will make it so you are unable to create combo weapons, but the wrench icons will be replaced with weapons icons. I MAY HAVE A SOLUTION. Since creating about 12 new lines of code, to create a new combo card adds a new wrench icons on the two weapons to create the combo card. So we need to focus on this area of coding. Nectar and queen are the only combo weapon ingredients which do not have a wrench icon for wingman, I looked at this coding for something which is unique ONLY to wingman combo card: Wingman combo card info in item.txt: cComboCardItem WingMan_card { AchievementCategory = "13" Attack1 = "2700" Card_Label = "2822" CardIndexNumber = "49" ComboStationRotation_1 = "0,0,0,1" ComboStationRotation_2 = "0,0,0,1" DR2 = "true" IconAsset = "comboc_wingman" PP_Multiplier = "2" Ticker_Description = "2522" Weapon_1 = "QueenBeeJar" Weapon_2 = "NectarJuice" Weapon_Description = "2650" }
AchievementCategory = "13" is UNIQUE to wingman. Changing all of the weapons to : AchievementCategory = "13" Will remove the wrench icon, making them weapon icons only. I have not tried this out yet but I think it will work.

This is a thread which originally was part of the infinity mode project thread.Kant said the very first thing he was going to do when he returns, is to work on chuck's health decreasing. This is the only thing really holding us back from making this mod a reality. More on how the health is reduced in Dead Rising: Chat board conversation about Chuck's health: NOTLD: I have pretty much no idea about anything, but I know there's one type of damage in the game that continues as time passes: when zombies grab you and you have to release yourself from them. I don't know, maybe you can look for the place that code is, and transfer it somehow for what you wanna achieve. Thetommah: I was thinking of the abandoned survivors health depletion which is probably roughly in the same place... but I couldn't find anything NOTLD: Good idea, actually, may be better... and there's someone that could know where that is: aggies11, who made the Slow Down Timer trainer, which's latest version had a "Stop Survivor Health Depletion" option NOTLD: you should send a private message or something Anno1404: hi guys, regarding: "I was thinking of the abandoned survivors health depletion which is probably roughly in the same place... but I couldn't find anything" Anno1404: kant said this was hardcoded into the .exe file so it can't be edited very easily |
Kant made a program which works for him, using retail version, every 140 seconds it takes away 1 bar of health. He had the deadrising2.exe file, modified for debugger, but no debug file in the dead rising 2 file. So debugger was inactivated. Link: www.mediafire.com/?7ua61kry1dakontProblem is editors who have skid row and steam dead rising 2 versions, they were unable to make it work for them correctly. No one with the retail version of dead rising tested this yet. RESULTSFirst skid row editorOne editor with the skid row version said that every 100 seconds the task bar for the Infinity Mode V0.1 would go down to -1. At around -16 (he is unsure how much) Chuck would lose one box of life. Chuck did not lose any life at -20. He was not using debug mode.
Second skid row editorOne editor using skid row got health: 6.514371E+33 in the toolbar first time. The editor had debugger activated. He restarted the game, and tried a second time, health -0.226888 at first in task bar button for infinity mode. Then changing to -0.999...Every time the infinity mod button changed, there was no change in the health bar. Every 100 seconds the counter changes for this modder. Then changing to -1.997731 Then changing to -2.997731 Then changing to -3.9997731 Then changing to -4.9997731 etc... At -7.999773 a (very poor) recording was done showing 100 seconds between the button changing. At -23.99773 there is still no health reduced. Around -30 the editor clicked f2 and went into god mode/floating mode. At around this time the button went to 1.514371E+33. Around 100 seconds later, the health went to -1 then -2 Third skid row editorAnother editor using skid row got no change from health: 0. INSTRUCTIONSThe instructions to install are as follows: - Download Infinity Mode V0.1
- Start and load dead rising 2 (your exe must be named deadrising2)
- Minimize dead rising 2
- Start the Infinity Mode V0.1 application.
- When the Infinity Mode V0.1 app is selected, press F5
- F5- off will become F5 - On
Source files for how Kant did thiswww.mediafire.com/?hahu3r0av3fp5cx - DR2 Health source folder Screenshots Error message when game is not running and application is: -----------------------
------------------------------- Error Contact Kant Error code: B --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
From the boykin mission in missions.txt: cMissionStartEffect x790 { ChuckCanBeHarmedFromEffect = "true" EffectEnum = "168" Location = "-23.614,1.921,-45.025" Loop = "true" Number = "1" Rotation = "0,0,0,1" } There are 6 occurrences of cMissionStartEffect in missions.txt. Maybe a possibility for the reduction in life.

We are working on an infinite mode, (below in my footer) and need someone to figure out how to decrease Chucks life over time. the community really needs you! your mod is still listed on the wiki too UPDATE: @ crimsonsg here is your mod found by searching: deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=dr2other&thread=181&post=977

Although an excellent idea, this seems like one of those requests which is far beyond the abilities of the community right now.
Funny you should mention this, this was requested years ago by a journalist who was making a wish list of things he would like to see in Dead Rising 2. I would suggest making this criticism in the official dead rising 2 critique which capcom has posted.

thank you ole for the work you have put into this thus far. I am glad you posted what you have learned.
Some editors don't post their progrees, and so if things don't work out, or they lose interest, no one can pick up where they left off. I am glad you posted what you had learned.

Unless we figure how to inject custom textures, I don't think so, since no Frank West model was included with the original game files, and Case West (or whatever you call that DLC) is Xbox exclusive, if I recall correctly. There are two ways to inject custom textures: 1. Texmod (fairly easy) and 2. messing with the headers of the texture files with a hex editor. See: Mod:Create_Reskins (instructions incomplete) and Proboards changing textures the complex wayWe could simply change the appearance of Chuck to look like Frank.

I found this article today: Best Free Hex EditorI have been using XVI32, and it sucks for copying and pasting. I am attempting to change binary paragraph marks (00) to % (25) (% does not appear in the file) then paste this binary in a text editor like notepad so I can covert all the large text file, data\frontend\str_en.bcs into an article with all the lines intact. The game calls (requests) certain binary text by line. For example, data/datafile.big/items.txt tells the game what line of code to use for a: - character's notebook description (Rebecca's: line 65529),
- display name above character (Rebecca's: line 50047),
- character's full name in the notebook (Rebecca's: 81585),
- Rescue quote (Cinda Smith's: 65424)
See this article for a full table of survivor attributes from data/datafile.big/items.txt . (minus poker attributes) We already know how to change that text (replaced text must be the same number of characters to work). If we can find out exact where certain binary text appears, we can change that binary text easier. I found that Hexplorer, with its matrix type layout, was able to copy text like I wanted. [/img] Edit >> copy as >> Filtered textPaste textThen in microsoft word, find and replace (ctrl+h): % with ^p (paragraph mark). For line numbers in Microsoft WordFile >> page setup >> Layout tab >> Line Numbers Button >> Add line numbering >> continuous
I also found this tool which replaces hex to string (regular text) online. I have not tried it yet, but it looks promising, and there are several online applications which do the same thing which you can find online by googling.

I am working to fill royal plaza with every single item here: All clothing and food in royal flush plazaAlthough the reason for this mod is to make screenshots of these items. Players will eventually be able to see all 1,792 items which are viewable. (some items when placed do nothing) The Dark Bean area will have all magazines, food, clothing and weapons, all in dispensers.
