Hello all, With Model importing getting bigger, and since Mariokart's tool came out there has been nothing but model swaps, I decided to take on a project.
Basically I got the idea to turn Dead Rising OTR into as close to Left 4 Dead as possible using a new mission structure and model imports. Features: -remove HUD (Solid's idea, certainly growing on me) -import the 4 characters in the game, one for the player and 3 Recruits import all 8 characters from L4D and L4D2 -import Tank, Witch, Smokers, etc... -make the game more level structured. i.e. Have an objective in each zone before you can move on -dim all lights activated gas vents, slightly harder to see. -aggressive zombies Done, may add more zombies -having surprise hordes of zombies appearing at certain times -Finish with a huge Hold Up level like in L4D -open to suggestions -Pipebomb-like item -Multiple scenerios (missions.txt) releases for different levels -Cameo by Frank and Chuck? New! Done!
What I need help with: -suggestions and ideas of course -adding L4D intro to beginning - thanks Solid -tweaking L4D models - Thanks Solid -finding L4D 3d models - HERE -need help with ways to implement special zombies. I know how I will do the Tank and Witch, have ideas on how to do Boomers and Hunters. But Smokers I dunno, or any other ones I am forgetting. -good objectives -If someone is ambitious they can work on replacing voices with L4D voices -if someone could get me a blank missions.txt (not deleting missions, but removing the content of the missions) that would save some time on my part
This just popped into my head as it has been awhile since this forum worked on a project. I'm pretty sure most of this could work but it will take a lot of work and time LATEST PROGRESS[/b]

You sure you're ready to do this mod? I would try and get support from freako or madda first.

Why me? I'm not really interested in Left 4 Dead and the only way you're going to be able to convert zombies is if whatshisface comes back which is loldoubtful.

wow, that is a GREAT idea tom. This is one of the best ideas since infinity mode, some might say it is the best mod idea ever.

Why me? I'm not really interested in Left 4 Dead and the only way you're going to be able to convert zombies is if whatshisface comes back which is loldoubtful. Incorrect... I can garauntee I can get the L4D special zombies in the game

I think a big thing I'll need help with is compiling a list of missionobjectives from missions.txt so I know what I can deal with. I'm pretty sure there are objectives for killing certain survivors or all zombies in area, or obtaining certain items. I am interested in these.

Small progress, working on just getting content in the files for now... Spawned a Tank model, he WILL attack but for picture purposes I made him docile in the safehouse. Enjoy!

Where did you get such a gigantic skeleton? The skeleton is the same, I just changed the scale in items.txt. I used it in my Zombie Mode for DR2.

Small progress, working on just getting content in Wow... Have you been able to make it so that when a tank hits you you go flying? (ie like when TK hits you with his scepter thing and you go flying) Also what is that other model poking out of the tank? Is that just a glitch since he's in the neutral position?

TK scepter? is that only in OTR? I don't remember him using it in DR2 so I'm unaware of the effect

The original doesn't have melee. If Tom is aiming for the first game's gameplay. I think he should aim for L4D2 since melee weapons improved the game ten fold. Also melee weapons are integral in OTR.

LEFT 4 DEAD Does NOT Use Only Guns.There are Weapons Like An AXE. PIPEBOMB. BASEBALL BAT MACHETE .... Duh. Yea I was thinking the Original, I've never played the second one. Plus I think I put Pipebomb in the features...

Small update: Picture showing an aggressive Tank had to scale him down a little bit since the last picture as his attacks were actually going over the player's head.... now its all good. maybe I'll take the time to get the most height and still deal damage. Picture showing Hunter Hunter is stalking me. I know the name is wrong, I had it named "Hunter" but for some reason would crash the game whenever it got close. Models are not final, in my opinion finalizing the models is the easy part. I just want to show progress.

Very impressive! Can't wait for release Could you add car alarms and dead bodies? Dead bodies yes, though tedious. Car alarms, I don't think so. There's only like 3 cars in the game anyway and we would have to successfully add audio to the game.

You're only getting 9 fps...lucky I only get 5 that's when using gyazo on a photo, this is a picture of a picture. I run the game at full speed no problem.
