Hi there,
so I´ve played DR2 OTR. Had real fun for about the first 2 cases or so... Had the "mission" to do my thing and she would call me if there´s something new. I was on the other side of the mall complex with 2 crippled survivors and one "normal"...she called and I had like 10 minutes Realtime to get back there *WTF*
After unsuccessfully trying to get them back in time, I just started to shoot everyone and everything up and consider the timescale both a farce and an bug or a very sadistic act of humor...
So I searched for modding tools, unpacked the datafile and started to fumble around in it, changing weapons damage/durability, easy stuff.
Even found the missions.txt duration so I just set it higher and the problem was gone... till the next case should have activated, they said "failed" even though I´ve didnt get the message.
I´ve found the DR2 trainer to set the timescale and the corresponding thread here... but not one for DR2 OTR or an introduction how to recreate it for the game.
My understanding is that it was created with CheatEngine and that it changes the amount of seconds gametime for each second realtime that passed, i.e. 1second RL passed and the game adds 12 seconds to the gametime clock.
The trainer overwrites this value with for example 2 seconds. So for ever second RL it adds only 2 seconds to the internal gameclock.
The only way imho someone found this value would be to repeatedly search for the games timescale (12 in the above example) in cheatengine till the right value(s) were found.
Question 1: Is the timescale in OTR the same as in DR2? (12 secs. if I´m correct)
Question 2: Is there some work on this already been done by anyone?
Question 3: Somebody else already tried to find out how the trainer works? or how it could be re-created?
Such an trainer would circumvent all the problems with other "more time" mods as it would affect directly the timescale thus leaving the missions.txt alone.... no need for "time travel" anymore.
I´m posting this both as an discussion thread and request mod thread to reach as many people as possible, cause I really would like to play the game again... but not with the current time "problem".
