After hours of toiling I finally managed to seperate the Looters backpack! rapidshare.com/files/426738602/Backpack.rarOpen your npcs.big and paste in leg_default.big and leg_default.tex. Repack and put it in its normal location, then play. As far as I can tell, this should be compatible with any model swap as long as you still have leg_default.big being loaded in the bigfile.xml. If not, just copy an entry from the bigfile.xml eg.
leg_arthur.big

leg_arthur.tex
) and rename them leg_default.big and leg_default.tex respectively. This basically means instead of Chucks jeans being loaded, the looters backpack is being loaded instead. Enjoy and let me know if any problems arise.

The good news is I can play with a backpack. The bad news is that I have no legs. It's like the file replaced the pants for the backpack. How do I do to get the legs back? Thanks for the mod, and waiting for an answer.

This only works if you have one of the other characters models replacing Chucks default jacket. I take it your trying to use it with the original Chuck?

Yeah. Ok, now I get it. You made it for any other models, cause you're loading the backpack instead of the pants. But isn't there any way to avoid this? Load the backpack without replacing another texture? I'm totally inexpert on mods, but maybe if you could give me just the backpack lines of the file, and a created a new .big file, something like "backpack.big" with the lines you give me. Then I'd add:
"
leg_arthur.big
"
to the "bigfile.xml".
Or something like that. If there's a chance that something similar to that would work, correct my mistakes and please explain me how to do it right. And if it won't work, well then just tell me that.
Thanks for the quick answer above.

I dont reckon that would work. From my experience you cant add an extra clothing space, so for any change to work it has to replace something. The only way to have his legs and the backpack is to put the too BIG's into one and add the entries in the scenedescription together. However to do that you need a hex editor and thats were I get a bit lost. Im sure someone could do it, just not me :/

True I thought your files didn´t work on chuck so I uploaded those and didn´t realize that they were the same. I guess I misunderstood things. ;D

Replaced the yellow sunglasses and it's working perfectly. Don't know why when I tried it the first time with the sports sunglasses it didn't work, but then I changed to the yellow ones and it did.
So, working fine, thanks to both!

For the lesser knowledgeable such as myself, can you explain how you get this to work with the original Chuck?
I understand you rename the files to something, but can you provide a short tutorial on how? I wanna try this out with another mod.

1- Download Gibbed.DeadRising2.Tools and extract it. 2- Go to "CAPCOM\Dead Rising 2\data\models" and copy "npcs.big" to the same folder where you extracted the tools. (make backup). 3- Drag "npcs.big" to Gibbed.DeadRising2.Unpack and it should create a folder called "npcs_big". 4- Download the backpack and extract it. 5- rename and paste "leg_default.big" and "leg_default.tex" to whatever you want to replace in the "npcs_big" folder, for example... "headwear_Ladies_Hat.big" and "headwear_Ladies_Hat.tex" 6- Repack "npcs_big" using Gibbed.DeadRising2.Pack and put it back in to the original folder.
