Dead Rising 2 and Off The Record (possibly 3 as well havent checked) use a file format called xwma which is a version of the WMAv2 codec
Required tools
Gibbeds Big packer/unpacker
DirectX Software Dev Kit 2010 xwmaencoder.exe
A program to create WAV files (I suggest NCH Switch Sound or FFMPEG and a WAV script)
The Step By Step
1.Place the xwmaencoder.exe in your user folder (example I would place it in the root of C:\Users\SPPV)
2.Place the wav files in the same folder (because this is a CMD encoder I suggest using easy names like 1.wav, 2.wav etc)
3.Run command prompt and type "xwmaencode.exe 1.wav 1.xwm" (no quotes) and hit enter
4.Use Gibbed Tools to unpack the big file with the audio you wish to replace.
5.Rename your new xma file to match the one you wish to replace and copy and overwrite
6.Repack the big using Gibbed Tools and copy the big back to your Dead Rising Folder overwriting the original
7.Enjoy your new music or dialogue

This is a drag and drop script. Simply drag the audio file you wish to convert to the wav.cmd

After seeing some old threads I see people have had issues replacing sound files. This is normally caused by 2 things. Khz and size. When encoding your WAV make sure its at 44100Khz (FFMPEG WAV does this automatically) For size you can use the /b switch in xwmaencoder to lower or higher the bitrate to some what control the size. If this fails you can use FFMPEG and dictate size of your WAV file. Simply use XWMAencoder to convert the original to WAV to get a base size and use this in FFMPEG to dictate your WAV size.

And we are also happy to provide you with proper software for creating files from scratch, doing cut scene mods etc especially if you gonna metal up that game
