I followed the guide on the wiki to change the texture of Frank. The problem is that whatever I do after the game crashes. I tried following the tutorial, open the file npcs.big (no problem in the past I had already replaced the original model with others in the model section of the forum), I copied the files you want and renamed chest_default.big and chest_default . tex, returned to the folder and replaced, then I changed personally as bigfile want the tutorial. I deleted the entries as legs_naked, head_base, ecc, (but not legs_naked_Frank example) and then saved the whole. But nothing when it crashes after startup. Since we are talking about OTR is a few more steps than the classic version of Dead Rising 2 is explained in the guide? Or I something wrong?

okay.... I hope i understand what you're trying to say... So first of all what are you trying to change about the textures anyways? And why did you delete some of the files? Doesn't make any scence to me at that point.... Replacing stuff ,okay. But just deleting files will make the game crash. You gotta point there XD.
So...some further information would be great. Hope you got a backup anyways. Best wishes , Chad

Sorry for bad English, but unfortunately I help with the translator of google. So, I'm just following this guide ( deadrisingwiki.com/wiki/Mod:Model_Swap ) to put the textures of a soldier by replacing default frank. In this case, I took the texture and I renamed the file as requested (chest_default), then I deleted file entries in the rest of the body from bigfile not to make them appear in the game (head, legs, etc..). This is what I understand from the tutorial. But in the end after the procedure repack, the game crashes.

You can't replace the chest part in OTR sadly. So when you replace that model and delete the other entries the game will always crash. It's because OTR is different from DR2 in deleting body parts. So it isn't like DR2 where you can delete a body part of Chuck's and the game still run.The easiest way to play as another character now is adding that characters model in as a new wearable outfit in OTR.Which is really wasy to do.

Easy? It depends on who makes it, for n00b like me who are trying to get closer to the modding is not easy. There are tutorials to do this? Maybe for the n00b like me. Also I think this thing should be explained and clarified wiki, now might create confusion and frustration for new users.

We don't run the dead rising Wiki page so we really don't add anything to it personally. Though you do bring up a good point, it would be nice if someone put together a tutorial in our Mod Tutorial section.

anyone can edit the wiki. you are welcome to rewrite it. Many editors here have contributed to the wiki. Easy?
