I wish I had more time to start porting the other DR1 characters (as well as update this shoddy port of both Sean and a raincoat cultist) But wednesday night, I got drunk and I'm paying the price for it with gastritis. But here's what I done so far. www.mediafire.com/?99fddk4z86nhxxrI was working on Brock, but I've been having problems fixing a rigging issue with his feet. Sometime over the next few weeks, I'll try and get him fixed and maybe another character or two ported. Though I'll likely start remaking the models, because let's face it... Chop 'Till you Drop's models and textures kinda suck. Might also see about porting other models, like Resident Evil characters (who wouldn't want Chuck to cosplay as Wesker?) This is primarily a resource for modders. Because the files are labelled as srv_cultist and boss_sean. This is for anyone who has the know-how to create their own mission for them.

Replacing the looters with the cultist seems the way to go.

I tried to do that actually, but it seems the looters are actually in the zombies.big file.
And it seems like the looters are set up differently. Rather than have geo files like the models in the npcs.big, they use combined indices and vertices, like the items.

i haven't tried it, but if you swap a zombie with a npc big does the game accept it?

The game doesn't crash, if that's what you mean. But the models end up exploding. I'm guessing some bones are different.

cool..
so that means we can decompile a npc BIG file and swap the bone file with the Zombie bone file. recompile the BIG and import it into max. that way the skeleton will be imported, and then all we gotta do is rig to the new skeleton.
^-^

If that works, then we can create our own enemies. Only problem is, they probably wouldn't be able to be sliced up with certain weapons, but that doesn't bother me too much. I'll try that out, soon, then. Heh. UPDATE:That method you mentioned, Mariokart, seems to work. Though when you first load it up, it'll give you an error message claiming "Bone index out of range: 48" My guess is that it's because the zombie skeleton has far less bones (30, by Max's count). The skeleton loads up in 3ds Max. Tomorrow, when I get some time, I'll rig the cultist to that skeleton and see if it fixes the deforming issue in the game. If it does... then someone can help me add them to the missions file. Heh.

I don't think the cutting system has anything to do with the actual mesh files.. I think the game cuts the model actively and applies a texture on the cut area..
cause I've seen zombies slice in really weird ways.. almost inconsistent
also I successed in porting Jess over Stacy. I messed up some of the face rigging, but the quirky expressions are awesome

Jessica over Stacy, Brad over Sullivan and Isabella over Rebecca.
Then we're golden.

edit
DR2 is just a tweak to the bone outputfile.. actually I'm pretty sure you could use the current converter. I just think nobodies tried it

Regular Dead Rising 2 sucks.
Otis... uuuuh. TK? ...no. TK can be Carlito. Otis could work, replacing Sullivan, it'd be weird seeing him talk.

Looks like I'm going to have to get my hands on a Dead Rising 1 iso. Heh.
Nice work on Jessie, Mariokart. Heh. Do you have any plans to release that?

Plus my avatar doesn't really help. But yes, I stopped playing Dead Rising 2 a month or two after release, but I've played Off The Record almost every day since its release and still am not bored of it, so clearly Frank creates a superior game experience to me.

I'd appreciate it if you guys didn't start unnecessary fights like this...
Anyway, on topic, I've gotten my hands on some of the DR1 models. Just need to get the textures unswizzled. Then I can start porting some models.

madda and Freako please stay on topic, there is a whole section for General Dead Rising Chat. If you feel the need to be petty please do it there.
On Topic: Looks great, I always loved the True Eye Cult in DR1 and with our knowledge of mission-making we could probably recreate it. Also, how hard would it be to turn a looter or mercenary into a survivor by changing the bones like that?

Wouldn't be TOO difficult. Just a matter of re-rigging the model to a different skeleton.
But yeah, I'd appreciate some help with actually adding a mission for the cult. Heh. Just getting the DR1 version of the model and textures. (well... I got all the DR1 boss models. Just having a bit of trouble fixing up the textures.)

I can see bones and skin information in the DR1 files.. but was too lazy to read it in in any case you can copy the SKIN modifier off of the Wii model and paste it onto the 360 model. I wonder if noesis will open the textures?

Why the hell would you want the Wii model?

You might as well wait until the DR1 textures can be fixed. Then the 360 version of DR1 Frank could be ported.

the 360 models have more polygons then the wii models. and not only that, the Wii has smaller textures, and are diffuse only. the 360 uses diffuse, spec, and normal maps. aswell as support texture sizes of 512-2048 on main characters. in comparison to the Wii, which uses a single 512 map, which is equal to about 256 once you break it up... so quality drastically changes between the Wii and 360.

I think we all know that isn't going to happen.
Anyway, the most we could probably do is mod the crap out of DR2 until it resembles DR1 in some way. Though that'd require more tools than we currently have (and I'm sure even Mariokart, as talented as he is, doesn't have the patience for that amount of work, especially for a small modding community like this one)
Anyway, I'm currently working on a certain special forces commander. I'll be working on a playable and a boss version. I'll also include the Special Forces outfit for Chuck and Frank.
Since the 360 textures I have are swizzled (and I gave up after manually unswizzling just ONE 512x512 texture), I'll mostly be working on updating the Wii textures. Due to the edited textures, future characters may look slightly different, for better or for worse.

Hi there guys ;D since I'm a real fan of the first part of Dead Rising (whch i played about two years and still do^^) i would love to import some models/characters it had. Sean(cult leader) ,Paul(arsonist) or Adam(the clown) for example. This far i have only seen Brock which is quiete sad because i don't like him and he looks just like Boykin. And since I'm using DR2 not OTR there is no way i could get any of it. Does anyone have any backup of Seans model in this mod? I would love to import him as a character in the huge mod or as a replacement for sullivan. Would be great if someone had a copy of his file. Thanks in any case^^

Thanks in any case^^ Chad Sadly thee model mods for OTR won;t work for DR2 as the model and skeleton structure in OTR is different from DR2's.So replacing any dr2 model with a OTR one will crash the DR2 game.Until and if Mario makes his max script to support DR2,only model mods can be done for OTR.

ohh...okay...thanks then. I hoped it would be possible somehow to import him if there already i a model of him for a game so close to Dr2. Too bad... So that means i can only hope that the creator will redo Sean for DR2 right? Is there no other way? Since i can't create him myself.
Best wishes , Chad
