Well, this is the only game I've ever tried to change in any way. What I've done is pretty basic, but since I'm completly new to this stuff too, I'll just tell you what I did. I pretty much just played around with one file, items.txt. It has a whole bunch of stuff for you to change. The only things I changed so far are: _Item's durabilities _Changed which items you can carry in the inventory _Chance of some weapons to explode zombie's limbs _Zombie's health _Zombie's senses alert _Zombie's aggressivity level _Max number of zombies that go after Chuck at the same time. _And once for my little cousin, erased one mission (the only time I messed around with another file, in that case, the missions.txt) There's a lot more things you can change, you'll see that just by looking around the mods that have been released so far. But for the little stuff I've changed, I only needed one thing, Gibbed Tools. Here's a link for that: deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dr2tools&action=display&thread=186What it does is pretty basic: it unpacks and packs Dead Rising 2 files. Once unpacked, you can look at the individual files for each stuff. Of course, there's a bunch more of tools; you can look at those in the Modding Tools section. To know what to do, you'll have to start by finding some mod, like one that increases durabilities and ammo, check how the author did it, and then you know how to do that. Then do the same with some other mod. And after a while you'll be confortable enough to start messing around with the files yourself, like "I do this... what happens?". The smart guys are still figuring out how to do stuff themselves, since the game is pretty new. So if you catch up, you'll pretty much be learning as they do. Think there's a wiki where they are posting all updates the get on modding. Anno1404 is the creator I think, so ask him if you are interested. If you're really interested, all you'll really need is patience.

All mods work without crashing issues when used right. Just make sure to load a savegame where you have default clothes on Chuck to avoid clipping issues.

The whole "installation" which is basically just changing some files takes about 5 minutes. Detailed instruction can be found here.
