Here's the FOV Modification in it's most simple form. I don't take credit for this as I don't know who came up with it first. I had originally made this as a request by one of my co-workers. Instructions:Download:
Datafile and .txt files for DIY
Backup/Rename: Dead Rising 2/data/datafile.big Copy: New datafile.big -> Dead Rising 2/data/
If any adjustments/improvements are made to this, feel free to post it in this thread.

I made a video showing the new, wider field of view in action. See this thread to easily figure out how to do it yourself! (or check out this tutorial video I threw together) Update:Instructions from video, in the sections: Edit the following sections of data/datafile.big/camera.txt : cThirdPersonCam Overshouldercam Overshouldercamnoground StandardMotorcycleCam MotorcycleCamUndeground VehicleCam cOvershouldercam OldOvershouldercam OvershouldercamMinigame Change all lines in those section that say FOV="43" to FOV = "60" (or any number, but 60 is best) There are only 12 FOV="43" in this folder.

Sorry, I don't have a place to upload to at the moment and as most of you know... It is Rapidshit... Can the upload limit on this board be increased to 3.00MB? that would at least allow uploads of the datafile.big to be uploaded.

Can this mod zoom in close to items? If not is there another mod that can? The reason I ask is I am part of dead-rising.wikia.com we have over 8,500 pictures, mostly of Dead Rising. Problem is Chuck has no camera, so it is difficult to get good screenshots of items to add to the website. I have the xbox 360 version but would be willing to shell out another $60 for this feature alone. Thank you in advance.
Field of view 100
From closed thread, Wider Field of View Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 1:42pmJust wondering if anyone could tell me how to edit my Field of View.
*edit ---- Download the Wider FoV MOD here or read below to learn how to edit it yourself (it's easy)
*editedit -- I just uploaded a video, and you can see how my view looks with it modified!
Posted by Wizard on Oct 5, 2010, 3:02pm Seems to me he just pushed back the Camera, which that by itself would give you much better field of view. You can edit the Camera by extract Datafile.BIG, and editing the Camera.TXT file.
Hope this was helpful. Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 3:08pm I downloaded the .big extractor from your tutorial thread, but am confused about what does what. I am no good at modding, personally!
Thanks for your patience and help! Posted by Wizard on Oct 5, 2010, 3:19pm Unpack = Extraction Pack = Repacking the .BIG File
So click'n'drag the Datafile.BIG over the Unpack.EXE, do your edits, then drag the edited folder over Pack, and it'll build you a new .BIG
Hope it works out! Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 3:23pm wow thanks a ton!
*edit - It worked Changed my FOV to 60 (Default was 43, ick) Posted by jimfinlay on Oct 5, 2010, 3:31pm Hello!
Don't forget you can change the FOV for different scenarios, for example when you're driving/skateboarding/pushing a wheelchair - the default FOV on the bike is pretty tight so you might want to make that larger as well! Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 3:56pm Where are the fov's for those particular scenarios? In the camera.txt file or?
*edit - glad to see you joined, been following your DR2 mods on youtube! Posted by jimfinlay on Oct 5, 2010, 4:22pm Hi,
Yes, all the values are in camera.txt, for example you have StandardMotorcycleCam, VehicleCam, etc.
I've just posted another video as well, showing Denyce (the lady in the pharmacy) being replaced by Snowflake (possible spoilers..). I'm working on a "film noir" look now (using the in-game post processing), this is getting quite fun! Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 5:42pm I changed the fov on motorcycle & vehicle but didn't see skateboard or wheelchair pushing... Would you mind letting me know exactly what they are called so I can "find" them?
I saw the video with Snowflake replacing Denyce, that's awesome Posted by ripc on Oct 5, 2010, 7:36pm

It seems that 60 is quite the optimal FOV, it seems just right for me on 1650x1024. With the same concept I've currently been testing/tweaking a First Person Aiming Modification with camera.txt I'll post it if I get it working nicely. Posted by ubtri© on Oct 5, 2010, 7:40pm Yea.. I come from a strong FPS background and am not too happy with the sloppy mouse sensitivity in DR2 when aiming firearms... Would love to see that more optimized, if that's what you are talking about
Posted by ripc on Oct 5, 2010, 7:54pm Not entirely, I was more thinking of changing the Camera to where the Gun is, although I'll look into that. I do have to admit the "Mouse-Smooth" like featured in other games is incredibly annoying and leaves you feeling like you're playing with an X360 Analog stick on your mouse. Posted by ripc on Oct 6, 2010, 1:45am I'll release the FOV Mod (60) in the releases section. Posted by ubtri© on Oct 6, 2010, 1:51am

Sounds good I just edited the basics for 60, not sure what 90% of the rest of that camera.txt file was for and didn't want to screw anything up Posted by ripc on Oct 6, 2010, 1:58amYeah, the release will be just the basics until I'm able to update it with some further interesting things.

With debug mode you can press F2 to activate a fly camera (pressing F2 will then teleport Chuck to where the camera is).

With debug mode you can press F2 to activate a fly camera (pressing F2 will then teleport Chuck to where the camera is). Gibbed, interesting thank you. So can you get close up pictures this way? For example if I have the magazine "building" can this make it possible to zoom in and take a screen shot of this magazine? [/img]
Does this answer your question? you need a xbox 360 controller to control the camera This is not true? My mouse works just fine and W to move forward.

enable_manual_cam="true" ? No, F2 on PC when debug mode enabled acts as a camera teleport (you press F2, it lets you move the camera however you like, press F2 again and it teleports chuck there). This is my current user.ini: enable_dev_features="True" test_mode="True"
size_window_x="1024" size_window_y="768" OverrideRenderSettings="True" RenderFullScreen="False"
RenderLocalPlayerPosition="True"
enable_quickie_debug_menu="True" enable_dev_only_debug_tiwwchnt="True" enable_debug_jump_menu="True" test_jumps_enabled="True"

Gibbed I got the game because of your advice, thank you! Gibbed wrote: With debug mode you can press F2 to activate a fly camera (pressing F2 will then teleport Chuck to where the camera is).I jumped to Tape it or die 2 mission in debug jump, so the wonderful debug works. Problem is, when I press F2 I just go to the map. I press F2 again, and nothing happens. Can you expound on what I should do? Update: Gibbed I added your ini file above. now when I press F2 strange things happen, the map pops back up automatically, sometimes the map information is on the side, but the map is missing, and I can see chuck and the regular screen. Restarted game:When I am in the locker room after pressing Debug jump, nothing happens when I press F2. When you say debugger, do you mean this debugger? found by allcases?Can someone post a brief video on what this looks like? Please. Here is the continuation of this conversation.
Gibbed wrote above: With debug mode you can press F2 to activate a fly camera (pressing F2 will then teleport Chuck to where the camera is).When Gibbed says "debug mode" does he mean the debug mod that allcases found? I can't get the camera to zoom in on the debug mode, and Gibbed has not responded. Gibbed posted this picture showing it is possible, what is the green text in the corner, I tried to google this text with no luck. Please help. I have been trying for 3 days to figure this out.

Sorry, I thought I replied but I guess I didn't submit or something. The debug mode I'm talking about is not the debug jump menu items that allcases was talking about, but a patch to the game to enable a debug mode which enables debug settings to be applied. I wrote some documents on enabling these: svn.gib.me/public/deadrising2/trunk/docs/

This is the continuation of a discussion trying to zoom in on objects.I would like to modify deadrising2.exe so I can run debug mode. Based on these instructions: To properly enable debug mode, you need to change a single byte in deadrising2.exe from 1 to 0 -- this will enable the game to load settings from master.ini and user.ini.
Be warned that editing deadrising2.exe will completely break GFWL from working at all.

you need to edit the application exe with hex editor . or at least that's how i understood it, haven't done it myself .

thank you. I downloaded a hex editor. I opened these four files, and cannot find exactly where I am supposed to change 1 to 0. Can someone help me? maybe add a screenshot?

Thank you agret, I will look forward to this! UPDATE:Agret tutorial is here
I used the downloaded file with the modified deadrising2.exe file which agret was awesome enough to upload (above). Works normally. Thank you. How do I know if I am in debug mode? Gibbed had wrote: With debug mode you can press F2 to activate a fly camera (pressing F2 will then teleport Chuck to where the camera is).I press f2 and nothing happens....I then move the mouse track ball and W, and I move normally. I added this: enable_dev_features="True" test_mode="True"
size_window_x="1024" size_window_y="768" OverrideRenderSettings="True" RenderFullScreen="False"
RenderLocalPlayerPosition="True"
enable_quickie_debug_menu="True" enable_dev_only_debug_tiwwchnt="True" enable_debug_jump_menu="True" test_jumps_enabled="True"

did you made a user.ini or master.ini and put it in the dead rising 2 folder ? Do you have the following in user.ini or master.ini? enable_quickie_debug_menu="True" enable_dev_only_debug_tiwwchnt="True" Both needed to enable quickie menu. check this thread ,it has all the info : deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dr2other&action=display&thread=143&page=2there was also somewhere on the forum the master.ini gibbed use ,but i cant find it right now.

anu, have some good karma.
I think the problem was I had not changed the user file to an ini file, it was still a txt file. I am trying it now--will see if it works!

I am not using a master.ini, you can use that instead of user.ini if you like, they load the same way, it's just user.ini gets loaded after master.ini (so user settings could override the master settings, get it?).

IT WORKS! IT WORKS! Now I need to spend hundreds of dollars on a better computer because mine is SO slow. THANK YOU SO MUCH ALL Gibbed, how in the world were you able to angle the magazine so close? All that works is: - w key, which jumps forward to much and
- the mouse, which simply rotates where the w key moved you.
Would an xbox 360 controller help? I plan on creating a tutorial on how this all works and how it can be done, as I have done here with texmod. (I will post this on tutorials too)

I see that the picture is not very high quality, meaning you have a slow computer like me. Yes a Xbox controller would help. You can go forward backward, left, right and turn. And of course, you can go slowly or fast. (and spit blood from the camera, if you're into that kind of thing)
