*update* Reply #6 has a new version. *update*
Want to drive into any area? Now you can! With the only limitation being narrow hallways, staircases, etc. Files, in reply #4 under my name.
If, you already have some experience modding, this will be fairly easy. But, still possible to make mistakes. If your completely new, read Gibbed tutorials. The editing part is easy with notepad or an xml editor.
First, you get a waypoint from data.big. Back up the ones you plan to change.
Open a file like waypoint_fortune_exterior, go to cTriggerVolume on a place like RoyalFlushPlaza. Change InteractButton = "true" to "false" Now, you no longer need to use the door to teleport. You can drive, into this location to teleport in, or walk in.
Example (from waypoint_fortune_exterior):
cTriggerVolume RoyalFlushPlaza1
{
ActionType = "3"
DisplayName = "832"
Height = "2.0"
InteractButton = "false"
IsStatic = ""
Level = "LEVEL_ROYAL_FLUSH"
LevelSpawnPoint = "EntryFortunePark"
Location = "-101.165,-0.227,-35.435"
Radius = "4"
Rotation = "0,0,0,1"
Vertex1 = "-1,0,1"
Vertex2 = "1,0,1"
Vertex3 = "1,0,-1"
Vertex4 = "-1,0,-1"
}
Try leaving Royal Plaza now in your game into the park. Now, go through the farthest right doors (relative to Chuck facing them) to teleport back in.
Given, this is only one small area for an entrance. But, it's a start. Find all the teleport points in the waypoint files that you want to drive through, and you can see how much more this can add to your game. I'm sure a handful of users already knew this, but for those who don't can try this.
Heh,heh. Let the good times roll with vehicular mayhem!
Update for vehicle enthusiasts - Waypoints of Interest List:
waypoint_americana_casino
waypoint_arena_backstage
waypoint_atlantica_casino
waypoint_food_barn
waypoint_fortune_exterior
waypoint_palisades
waypoint_royal_flush
waypoint_south_plaza
waypoint_underground (optional)
waypoint_yucatan_casino
Editing the entry points in each, should cover you for anywhere you want to go. Even the rooftops, if you really want to. But, I didn't list the roof or laboratory waypoints.
Of course, keep in mind you edit these files at your own risk. How vehicles effect cutscenes varies. I've only seen it happen once.
The vehicle, magically disappears to several feet behind you. Given, that only happened with Leon. So, who knows if the same thing will repeat for other bosses or if something weirder happens. Post anything weird here.
At this time, it might only be possible to take vehicles into areas that commonly allow vehicles. This may largely be due in part to waypoint locations for exit and entry points. At the time of this post, all waypoint files were edited to see how many areas a vehicle could enter, with as little modification as possible.
*Additional Notes:
- Took Sports Car into Yuctan during Ted & Snowflake fight. Cutscene made car remain at the entrance, so was able to retrieve it. Looks safe to use vehicles whenever you want, once this mod is all fixed and working. It's funny running over Ted. But Snowflake, what're you doing to my car!? ;_; I just had it waxed, too...
Update: The majority of problems seems fixable by reducing the radius number and amount of entry points into an area. At least, with the case of Americana so far. Ideal radius is between 1-2 for multiple entry points close together (Royal Flush-to-Fortune is an exception at 4). Mainly because, there's an existing issue with spawn points being too close to the transition areas.
I fixed all the problems by altering Radius functions. I didn't move coordinates. Read the list carefully, and you can repeat the results for your modded games. I won't be working on the Underground or Rooftops. So, if you want those, you'll need to edit them. Do keep in mind, this is a double edged sword. Knowing, when your at an entrance and if a survivor can transition is going to be harder without a vehicle. But, it's a small price, right? You could always use the SUV to move people.
Works Well List (Taking A Vehicle Into...):
- Royal Flush/Fortune Park: Seems kinda obvious. But, I checked this with the sports car. Works well vice versa no matter the vehicle.
- Yuctan Casino/Silver Strip (Fortune): Tested Chopper. Works well between both areas. Yay! ^^
- Palisades Mall/Atlantica Casino: Tested with Chopper bike. Works! Woot! Works well both ways.
Fixes:
-Americana Casino: Can enter through Royal & Fortune (& vice versa) without issue. Arena, is yet to be confirmed. Radius set to three. InteractionRadius set to 1.
- Yuctan Casino: Can enter/exit into any major area by vehicle. Set radius to three people, for all entry points in Yuctan and the Food Barn.
- Food Barn (Slot Ranch): Can now enter Yuctan. Radius must be 3. Also, InteractionRadius might have an effect too, so I set it to 1. It's not confirmed if it does. For transitioning to Fortune (Silver), use a radius of 2. Lame, I know. But hey, it works!
- Arena: South Plaza, Fortune (Platinum), and Americana all transition well. Radius is at my favorite number right now - 3.
- South Plaza: Works completely. This is a pretty cool area for a bike. You get a sweet ramp at the fountain.
- Fortune: Check list - Royal Flush, Arena, Yuctan, Atlantica (set Radius to 2), South Plaza (radius of 4 is acceptable), and Food Barn (Slot Ranch) with a radius of 3.
- Atlantica: Allows a radius of 3 for inside, in Fortune it must be set to 2. Sorry, it's finicky. So, you have to drive right up to the door.
Bug List (Taking A Vehicle Into..):
- Americana Casino: Fixed.
- Arena: Fixed.
- Slot Ranch Casino Exterior entrance: Fixed.
- Atlantica/Fortune: Fixed.
- Food Court (Slot Ranch)/Yuctan Casino: Fixed.
- Fortune/South Plaza (Hotel Entrance): Fixed.
- South Plaza/Arena: Fixed.
