I don't know if this will help, but standing near items and clicking the button to aim removes the icon. (if you are close enough) Also in god mode, you float around Fortune City out of body and there is no icon.

So first method removes icon for good ? By this I meant having Items without any icons. I want items to be just liek in beginning of the game. No wrench icons .

No the first method does not remove it permanently. I removed the HUD before, and it removed everything -- all the names of items -- all the mission text -- the life bars and the item bar. everything. You can read how I did it, I try to give detailed instructions, then attempt to find out which removes the blue wrench only.

Well, I opened file you told me to with big unpacking program, and replace all "true" to "false" in files that had hud_combine or hud_combo in their name. Please help me D: (Save your original ingame.big first) So you repackaged the file and returned it to the game folder data\frontend? When you repackage you need to name it ingame.big as it is saved as ingame_big.big Make sure to overwrite the original ingame.big (after saving the original) or move the original out first. If that doesn't work, activate debug mode. I don't think it will help, but it can't hurt.

I set all of the .txt files in data/frontend/ingame.big to false. Except I did not change the gambling lines, nor the mission lines. This still does not remove the item icons, nor the zombrex HUD, nor the items carried bar. So it must be something outside of ingame.big, or maybe one of the gambling lines or mission lines. UPDATE: I found this file in Mod:Data/Frontend. It looks like I have found at least how to remove inventory. Maybe I will be able to remove item icons too -- i will let you know.

half way there I changed all files' trues to false. I am able to remove the text of the icons, but not the icons! At least I will be able to find out the NAME of these icons, so it will be easier to identify. Also able to remove just the zombrex HUD and the inventory HUD by setting all 7 of these files to false.

Okay, I am going to update deadrisingwiki.com/wiki/HUD with my progress. The reason I am interested in this is just the opposite of you: I want to keep the icons, and get rid of everything else. Yesterday I figured out how to do this, but I spent an addition hour to two hours helping you solve this. It is not complete. Here is what I have been able to do: Delete every icon, every button shown next to the icon, and the words associated with every icon. What remains is a gray box which turns black when you get nearby. More details are on the HUD wiki page. Attached is the file: - download hud_overlays.txt (below) to desktop
- open data/frontend
- find hud_overlays.txt file
- renamed hud_overlays.txt to something like ORIGINAL hud_overlays.txt
- Drag the downloaded hud_overlays.txt to the data/frontend folder
- Start the game
If you want to improve on what I did, see Opening_and_recompiling_files Then you can experiment too and maybe figure out how to delete the gray/black box. Screen shots of my progress are found on the HUD page. Attachments:

Just a suggestion, but shouldn't the icons be stored in some game files? Should be possible to detect them and replace them with empty but transparent images, shouldn't it?

Have you tried to edit these files yourself? I have given you hours of research to expand upon.

Two updates: From: deadrisingwiki.com/wiki/WingmanNeither the nectar nor the queen are labeled with the wrench icon that other combination items are seen with, indicating that it is a secret Combo Weapon. So I am going to go into items.txt and see what makes these ingredients special. Also, from: Modify_weapons:Creating a new Combo cardYou can remove the combo card sections of items.txt which will make it so you are unable to create combo weapons, but the wrench icons will be replaced with weapons icons. I MAY HAVE A SOLUTION. Since creating about 12 new lines of code, to create a new combo card adds a new wrench icons on the two weapons to create the combo card. So we need to focus on this area of coding. Nectar and queen are the only combo weapon ingredients which do not have a wrench icon for wingman, I looked at this coding for something which is unique ONLY to wingman combo card: Wingman combo card info in item.txt: cComboCardItem WingMan_card { AchievementCategory = "13" Attack1 = "2700" Card_Label = "2822" CardIndexNumber = "49" ComboStationRotation_1 = "0,0,0,1" ComboStationRotation_2 = "0,0,0,1" DR2 = "true" IconAsset = "comboc_wingman" PP_Multiplier = "2" Ticker_Description = "2522" Weapon_1 = "QueenBeeJar" Weapon_2 = "NectarJuice" Weapon_Description = "2650" }
AchievementCategory = "13" is UNIQUE to wingman. Changing all of the weapons to : AchievementCategory = "13" Will remove the wrench icon, making them weapon icons only. I have not tried this out yet but I think it will work.

I think you missunderstood me :S Anyway here is a picture of thing I want to remove : I misunderstood you, because you never mentioned you wanted the wrench icons in the toolbar removed. My telepathic ability is poor.
