I have been a HUGE fan of Dead Rising 1 forever, even regarding it as my favorite game of all time for a while (But, Metal Gear Solid 3 takes that spot easily). With that in mind, Dead Rising 3 did everything I've ever wanted them to do. Weapon Lockers, saving wardrobe items so you don't have to fight Carlito to get to the good part of the mall.....Grumble Grumble, huge hoards of zombies, two characters for co-op with like-able dialogue, Combo weapons on the fly (Combo tables were the bane of my existence), the ability to sprint, and the fact that it's an open world map is fantastic. It has it's problems (and they aren't pretty), but its positives outweigh them so much, that I can admit that I like it more than Dead Rising 1.
Dead Rising. No doubt. The storyline was pretty good and the characters memorable.
It all went downhill after Dead Rising 2 (and Case Zero). Off The Record, Case West and Dead Rising 3 made me not able to take anything seriously.
Dead Rising 2 wasn't that bad. But the performance was awful. And it looked worse compared to the first game for some reason.
Dead Rising 3 wants to look gritty and gory, but it just ends up mixing comedy where it just doesn't fit. It isn't that bad of a game, but I miss the old concept of Dead Rising: Survival. Combo Weapons ruined that. Normal weapons are pretty much useless at this point.
Aaron Swoop - Willamette Local, Coward and Survivor.
Dead Rising 1,why? it has better graphics,it's more scary and harder. Seriously,i love the mall,i like Fortune City, and Los Perdidos, but in my opinion Willamette is A LOT better for me,i find it realistic, good and there are some things DR2 missed that was in DR1,like when you kick heavy object, and Frank's feet hurts,so yeah,DR1 is my choose,It also had realistic zombies, which made the game scary, in DR2 i did hate the zombies, they were too stupid, slow, not scary and limited, and in DR3 the zombies are too OP xD.
also Frank West is my favourite main character, which is the reason i have DR2 OTR,if Frank Wasn't the main character of OTR probably i wouldn't had joined this forum, don't get me wrong,Chuck and Nick are good character, but Frank is my favourite,he's cool.
in my opinion, also another reason i LOVE DR1 is because the Infinity mode,i love it,it's a good challenge.
In my opinion,i like All of the Dead Rising games, but DR1 is the best.
A new Dead Rising will NEVER Beat DR1,the one who started it all.

DR1 for me. But I disagree with anything after DR1 being shameful. DR2 gave us something new, a new environment and bosses. A new character who was totally different to Frank in every way. A father. Some hate him for being one and others hate him for not being Frank. But that's why he is likeable. The story in DR2 wasn't as good as DR1 sure, but it was good in it's own way. Bosses weren't as memorable as DR1's, but the change happens when the developer is more American based rather than being made in Japan like DR1. DR3 just feels too serious, I mean even with funny outfits on the scenes still felt serious and so on, hence why Capcom did that arcade like super fun dr3 dlc for X1. DR1 will be my fave for being my first DR game. But where character's are concerned I like Chuck more since he is more relatable to me.

Dead Rising 1, for sure. Dead Rising 1 is so brilliantly designed, even down to something small like Frank's clothing. He does a simple, average-joe job, and what colors do they put him in? Earhtly colors - Harsh Browns and Greens. The game has amazing atmosphere, everything is so unassuming but claustrophobic, and it has tons of little things that make you love it all the more. Insane people from the town capitalizing on the outbreak to harm others and do their rituals - A mentally warped Clown juggling chainsaws - 50's science-fiction-esque wasp parasite that lays larvae for the Zombie Queens...
It's just awesome, it has all of these cultural nods to american horror and american culture that doesn't feel overpowering... I'm looking at you, Dead Rising 3. Seriously, could that game be anymore macho and patriotic? I almost forgot it was Dead Rising with all the explosions and gunfire. Sometimes all you need is a subtle moment - a small inkling of hopelessness to really strap a player in. If all that grabs your attention is explosions and over-the-top psychos, then you're not a true Dead Rising fan, you're a Michael Bay fan, and nobody likes that guy.
Dead Rising 1 is the only game in the series that actually makes the timed missions feel fun and tense rather than making them a fucking chore, there's lots of variation, and while I admit that the AI in Dead Rising 1 is absolute garbage, at least the missions surrounding them are fun and the challenge (Not the challenge from bad AI, but the legitimate challenge.) Is something to be welcomed and is entertaining. It's a stressful and unique experience, escorting these survivors that, at any moment, could shoot themselves with a handgun you gave them or get eaten alive - Even with the chance of being infected and rising back up. So much time, love, and attention was put into this game - Covering all bases with lots of scenarios for each survivor and mission and multiple endings that actually feel fleshed out rather than: "Oh no, Katey." GAME OVER.
My point is that Dead rising 1 is phenomenally animated, its got a great atmosphere and attention to detail with its maps and multiple endings, its got characters you care about, a unique system for handling missions in a finite period of time in a sandbox environment, multiple gamemodes, and it delicately balances humor with horror in a way that I've never seen before or since, but most of all... It took the Zombie idea seriously and took a huge risk in being developed and released, instead of making some slapdash zombie slaughter game, it makes something serious with good old fashioned shambling zombies, no gimmicks or strings attached like Resident Evil. It's amazing.
Dead Rising 2 just feels like a directionless imitation with a stunning lack of graphical and narrative quality with shallow characters and unintimidating, boring environments that all look the same. The game has no style, theme, or any kind substance to be found. It's classic Capcom - Using the name to stay afloat and make some bank.
If you like Dead Rising 2 onward, that's perfectly fine, art is subjective and this is just my assessment of the situation. I personally love Off The Record, even though I acknowledge it's fucking awful - the gameplay in Sandbox mode just feels like a self-actualized, perfected Dead Rising 2 - It takes all of the terrible Chuck and Katey crap out and just lets you enjoy the gameworld as Frank West.
Anyone who didn't say Deadrising 1 should be crucified in my opinion. It ain't because of nostalgia. Sure, i've been playing since I was 7 years old but only good games stick with me. I've forgotten most of the games i've played back then. Guess what game stuck. DR1.
Such high and mighty people Wheres your national pride STiPO 2/OTR/3 are Canadian. 2/OTR are direct references to the Canadian show Red Green and Canadian humor. Others may not get our sense of humor but thats why they arent Canadian. Besides everybody knows the greatest zombie game is a toss up between Res Evil 1 on GC, Res Evil 2 and Res Evil 3. Lickers, Nemesis and Crimson Heads for life
