Fixing up the Female Model Swaps

I've gotten many complaints about issues with the female model swaps.

Sadly, it isn't as easy to fix as I hoped.

So far I've fixed Rebecca's Face so she no longer has a bullet hole, and all female's eyes now blink properly so they don't stretch.

Sadly, this alone causes problems.

Fixing the eye blniking, messes up the hands rather bad.

I'm now going to explain in detail what's going on, exactly.


If I use the guys Skeleton, it makes the girls stand more normal, less neck issues, fix's the eyes, but messes the hands up pretty bad.

When the girl is standing still, it looks good enough to be passable.

However when she moves, or if she uses any kind of weapon, this happens..

Question is, how do you fix this?!
Well, frankly I don't think we can... People will say "Just use the female survivors skeleton and that should fix it right?"
No, not really. I've already tried full skeleton swaps, it's REALLY ugly....like take that hand screenshot above, but do it to the whole body!

Basically that Spine bone is ultra important for a more perfect model swap.

Sadly, the problems don't end here...

I've looked ALL over the Audio folder trying to find Chuck's Grunts" so I could replace them with female ones, so our female model swaps don't sound like Trannys...

Lastly, females don't sit over Chuck's animations very well, this alone causes ALOT of issues. Again, there isn't nearly enough female animations in the game to put over Chuck's to make it more perfect.

Because most females are Thinner then chuck, you'll see issues like this alot :

I'm really trying my best guys to put something together to make this all the better because I really enjoy playing as Stacey myself, but all the issues really bog it down....

At the moment, we're probably better off using the Guys spine, and just dealing with the messed up hands. Because it does make the overall model much nicer.

I've tried to fix those issues myself, but wasn't able to.

Could you tell us how you did fix the eyes?

Also, a little off subject, but I found out that you don't necessarily have to repack the entire npcs.big file. A npcs directory in models will take priority on the .big file. You can swap some models that way without repacking.

But, surprisingly, it doesn't work on Chuck's model. So, in my game I've extracted the whole npcs.big file in a models/npcs directory. (Minus the files you excluded in your female swap bigfile.xml and keeping the original npcs.bin in a backup dir)

So when I want to change chuck's model, I just pack a npc.big with default_chest.big and .tex. When I want the original one, I use the original npcs.bin, and when I want to change a npc model, I do it in my npcs directory, which will override the one (if it is present) in the npcs.big.

It's a little complicated, but that way I don't have to repack the entire 500Mb of npcs.big each time I swap a model.

It doesn't work for everything though, I tried to do it by putting camera.txt in a datafile directory but it didn't work.

About the "Grunts", it's sorta strange, I opened the chuck.big file in audio and played the .adw files with VLC player, most of them played, not all, but it seemed like it had all of chucks audio.
So I went ahead and replaced one little line with another sound.. = Now most of ´Chucks sounds are disabled, Cutscenes still have his voice and the lovely "battlegrunts" are there, but all his actual selftalking, like when changing clothes is gone, nomore "Im a big boy" or "This really isn't my size".
Maybe it's simply the ADW-files copyprotection, but they have certainly made it hard giving Chuck a more feminent sound..
Even If the sounds would work, there's like hundreds of them to be replaced, and not all of them were playable, to listen to what you are replacing.

I appreciate the amount of work your putting into this Wizard, but from where I stand, playing with the default skeleton is not really a problem like you said. As long as you dont pay a lot of attention to the hands its not that noticable.
