Hello Dead rising proboards , I am new to dead rising modding and I have two questions about modding OFF THE RECORD, 1. Is it possible to add a completely new character to the game without replaceing an existing one? 2. Is it possible to edit so when you defeat a psychopath you can bring them to the safehouse? (like with bibi but with another psychopath.) Thanks!

Hi! Welcome Aboard! 1. Unfortunately we've never found a way to do make a brand new entry in Npcs.big and actually have the game load it..because for example, let's say your going to make a new survivor by the name of JimTheSlim (Just a random name lol) so you'll put in for a spawn entry of spawn JimTheSlim, even though all the files are there to support the spawn (Like in the Npcs.big) the game's source code itself has no idea what that is, and will completely ignore the command to spawn that NPC and move onto the next line. 2. That's a unique & neat idea, I'm going to say it's certainly possible with a good manipulation of the missions.txt in the datafile.big, so I say Yes, it's possible, as long as you have the knockledge to do so

Wizard, all you have said with #1 was incorrect. Because we CAN add a brand new entry into npcs.big and I do all the time to create new outfits.
So yes, everything he asked IS possible.

I would imagine you'd need Mariokart's model importer to import a new model. But yea, new entries in npcs.big is easy.
In DR2 the outfits were put together in a separate file and never figured out how to add clothing, but in OTR clothing is put together in items.txt so is considerably easier. Maybe that is what you were confusing it with, Wizard?
I personally can't get the model importer to work so I have no idea about that part

When you add a new model into npcs.big you just have to remember to put new entries for it in the npcs.big's bigfile.xml and it will work.

In off the record you can? I must be thinking of DR2 only then..I've never tried it in OTR, I just assumed they were both the same.. Good to know Thanks for the correction

It's possible in DR2 and OTR. Just for some reason nobody figured out how until someone did it once recently and I took notice of the method.

I'm pretty sure its not possible in DR2 to add outfits to the game. You can add them to npcs.big just fine, but getting them into the game hasn't been done yet. The games are different in that aspect. I think you should ask maddacheeb, he seems to know the ins and outs of that stuff. Hardly. deadrising2mods.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=dr2otceverythingelse&thread=1166&page=1

I knew it, and I did it with the free DLC. The difference isn't with npcs.big its with what puts together the outfits... in OTR its items.txt, in DR2 its outfits.csv and I was never able to add outfits to outfits.csv successfully.

Ah I see. Probably something else to it in regular DR2.
