I was thinking of doing this myself, havent gotten around to it though, very nice work. the lasted builds of udk have preset lighting maps for morning, night, afternoon, you could always stick the level in those presets and build the lighting
New version will eventually be coming soon, with transparency in textures working and a full 360o movement camera (none of that over the shoulder fps style movement) and If I can find someone who can rig characters for UDK, a Frank West player model.
The game allows you to create collision from the meshes themselves so I went with that. Very simple.
As for materials basically what I did was export all the textures as .tga from noesis and then imported all the textures into udk and selected the box to create a material for each texture, luckily every model in the game uses a single texture each so It was just a matter of dragging and dropping the right texture for the right model in the editor window.
Anywho, I downloaded the newest version of UDK and managed to get a dynamic sky with correct sun position and moving clouds, I also cobbled together peoples 3rd person scripts to get this:
Unfortunately you're unable to move the view around the player unless you are standing still. walking around is still FPS like so not quite the same camera method as Dead Rising yet sadly.
I may consider getting this game just so I can DL Willamette and have a look round. Was surprised how some areas you never got to see in DR1 were so nicely textured such as that playground in DR1's intro to the town and the camera.
Edit:I'm having some trouble trying to download this.Every time I press the download button it just takes me to a page saying "The website cannot be displayed" So I am unable to DL this.
