Ok so my friend and me are going to play co-op but i want to play as normal Chuck and my friend is going to be Leon. As both players are Chuck in co-op i have added in Leon as a clothing mod using the knight armor (as its the only thing with gloves), knight boots to fix the boots and a hat to fix Chuck's hair coming through underneath Leon's. I have successfully fixed all parts of Leon's costume apart from the face. I have tried everything to fix this, since using a hat fixed the hair i thought using some piece of facewear or something might work for the face but it doesnt. Obviously i cant use the normal files you'd use for a model swap (head_naked and headwear_base) as these affect Chuck's model. I tried them anyway and im either Leon all the time or the affected parts go black. I even tried combinations like instead of renaming both head_naked.big and head_naked.tex i would rename just one etc. but i just get it black Its not unplayable like this but i'd like the swap to be perfect if possible. Basically like the hair, Chuck's face is coming through underneath Leon's so it looks like this: Is this even possible to fix? Its an easy fix as a normal model swap but not when i want to still have normal Chuck as one of the players. I also tried the hugemod to swap into 40 male characters, Leon works fine but of course Chuck doesnt as all his textures are removed for that to work Any ideas? Im assuming its not possible since i've tried everything i can think of but hoping someone here might have a solution to fix this last issue i have with it

Cool idea bro, but I would like it if you made one play as Jared and one as Ray

Didn't read your post in depth, so my apologies if I missed something, but if you are both on PCs you can use the clothing "chuck's a chic", "huge mod", "zombie mod" mods and play whichever character you want.

Thanks anno but those arent really options for this. Im already using Leon as a clothing mod, I tried the hugemod but it doesnt work for Chuck. Those type of mods work by removing all of Chuck's textures so using that i have no head, hands or feet. Fine if i wanted to be any other character then i could have me and Leon working perfectly but when I want to be default Chuck it doesnt work as his default files have to be altered which is why i added Leon as a clothing mod so Chuck is unaffected. All works perfectly apart from the face texture due to different size and shape of head between them. This is all i need fixed. I dont want to be another character the whole point of this is we are Chuck and Leon. This'll be fine in OTR as co-op uses 2 different file sets but DR2 is harder to get this to work. The picture i posted is the best i can get it, was just wondering if anyone else has done co-op before with one player as normal Chuck and the other as a modded character. Tried everything i can but either doesnt work or affect me as Chuck. That 'Survivor Outfits' one looked possible until i saw its just the outfit, they still have Chuck's face so that wouldnt really work for Leon. I might have got this the best its possible to with both of us i dont know, just wondering if theres a way around it
Im making a series of videos of our playthroughs as Chuck and Leon, heres a link to the first
From a distance Leon looks fine but up close (and especially in cutscenes) it doesnt look good. Just hoping there might be a way to fix the face that doesnt affect me as well

you are the first person to ask this. I have never seen this question before and up until 4 months ago i had read every post.
I am not sure I understand fully why huge mod does not work -- there must be some errors in the model with huge mod, that is the case with several of the chucks a chic models. But no need to explain further as it is clear that I cannot help you.
If tom is around he is the expert on this kind of stuff, and maybe able to help. by posting originally, I just wanted to let you know that your post is not being ignored, but knowing I would probably not be able to help you at this time.

Thanks anno. Guessed i might be the first, most people just want to mod and be another character but this is how we want to play it so i've done the best i can to get both of us working properly. Everything is fine but the face (somehow using a headwear item like a hat fixes Chuck's hair coming through Leon's but nothing fixes the face) The huge mod works for changing into Leon but i cant be Chuck using that as he is invisible. It seems to be caused by the modified xml file that remove all of Chuck's textures, therefore allowing the change into any other character with no flaws in textures. It might not even be possible to get this any better than i currently have it but if Tommah has any ideas to fix this face issue with Leon then that would be great. Im a perfectionist

Thanks anno. I try get things as best I can, cant figure out this face issue with changing characters. Can only assume its not possible to do without removing Chuck's textures. Only thing I can think of that would work is if I use a character with a larger head. Another friend of mine wants to play with me as Chuck and Sullivan. Sullivan has a much larger head than Chuck so changing to him via costume change might not have this face texture problem
Well stuff I did for this change to Leon was use the knight armor (as its the only other thing with gloves so you dont have to use the default bare hands), some boots and a hat to fix the hair. In this case I used yellow sneakers and the ladies hat. Its just a case of renaming Leon's model file (he only has 2, boss_ultimatefan.big and boss_ultimatefan.tex) to whatever clothing you want to be part of the costume eg to fix Chuck's hair coming through Leon's I renamed boss_ultimatefan.big and boss_ultimatefan.tex to headwear_Ladies_Hat.big and headwear_Ladies_Hat.tex and that fixes the hair. Same method applies to all other parts of the costume. I doubt I'll get the face problem fixed unless anyone else can do it
For anyone interested, heres all of mine and Leon's videos so far:
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4:
Part 5:
Part 6:
Part 7:
Parts 6 and 7 are in full screen resolution and HD. As you can see in Parts 3 and 5, we have weird glitches with the TIR bikes. When we're hit by a psycho we end up glitching off the bikes and them driving around on their own. We can also drive around while dying xD No idea whats causing that or how to fix it

ok, I looked into it a bit and it might be possible. I tested this on DR2:OTR because I've modded DR2 so much that for some reason facewear items don't work. But I did get it to work in OTR and I can't imagine it being different for DR2. what worked was using the right facewear item, you need to find something that covers Chucks entire face/head. In the case of my success I used the Sports Fan facewear. Off the top of my head I'm not sure of anything like that in Vanilla DR2... maybe the hockey mask. Hope this helps at least

Thanks for the input Tommah. I just gave this a try using the hockey mask, zombie, lizard and servbot mask but unfortunately no success. When I put them on nothing happens, I look exactly the same. I had thought of this myself but assumed it wouldnt work so didnt bother trying. I tested them anyway as per your post but this doesnt work either. I really dont know what else I can try now other than just guess that it doesnt work. I would assume it works alot better in OTR as both co-op partners are different characters therefore i could do the normal model swap instead of the clothing method and it wouldnt affect me. If the clothing method works in OTR though and a facewear item fixed the face texture then I dont see why it shouldnt work in DR2. I tried all sorts of things but none had any effect, even tried the full beard and everything but I put them on and nothing happens. These are full head covering items and they're not working. I'll see if theres anything else I can try but I dont see why they'd be any different from the stuff I just tried I'll keep trying the few things I have left though are pretty much the same thing. Thanks for testing it out

I kinda fixed my facewear problem so I was able to test it out and I did get it to work. First off: model swap "boss_ultimatefan" over "head_Full_Beard_Moustache" (note not headwear or facewear). Second: DOWNLOAD THIS (outfits.csv) and put it in your datafile.big (and your friends' I'd assume) and replace the current one. basically I told the outfit in outfit.csv to use a model that is in the game but, to the best of my knowledge, isn't used (even by the knight armor). let me know, I'm anxiously awaiting to see if this is it.

This looks very promising, thank you ;D Weird i definately tried the head_Full_Beard_Mustache and when i put it on again it had no effect. Maybe your outfits.csv will help it to work though, this might be my missing link. Once you get it reuploaded I will definately try this tomorrow and let you know the result. Hopefully you've fixed this issue for me Appreciate your help

Wow this works Perfectly ;D Normal Chuck works perfectly fine, the face only changes when the knight armor is put on. To get back to normal Chuck you just have to return to default underwear oi43.tinypic.com/2qdbkut.jpgDefinately the outfits.csv file that did it, i hadnt even seen that file i overlooked that. Then again i was only looking in the npcs file for the stuff i was trying, never thought to look in the datafile section for this. Wouldnt have thought to do it that way anyway. Its basically what i was doing before trying to use stuff like the beard but my way it didnt work, it just needed this extra info for it to recognise the change Can I just check what it was you actually did for this file? I looked at the original and yours, is all you did use the Arthur outfit and set the head to Full Beard? Guess this way works over the way i was doing it as putting it on wasnt really telling it to do anything, now its built into the outfit it must counteract that Now I know this i could have Chuck and any other character as the 2nd player with no texture problems at all. This was what i was missing. Now Leon's face doesnt have to ruin cutscenes if he ends up in it instead of me xD Wish i'd thought of that file but it makes sense when you know how. I appreciate you taking the time to test this out and everything for me. I couldnt have done this without you, thanks alot Tommah ;D

Absolutely, no problem... that's what I'm hear for.
Yea I became familiar with the outfits.csv file a bit when I did the DLC outfits. As far as I know the only head item that is used in the game is head_naked (excluding DLC) even though there are other head entries, so even if you swapped over the Full Beard Head the game was still loading head_naked. I just told it to load head_Full_Beard instead.
I'm glad everything works! Have fun!
