I noticed a couple of instances of folks wanting a more detailed set of instructions on using TexMod, specifically with DR2. So, here goes! 1 - Download TexMod. www.bigdownload.com/games/texmod/pc/texmod/2 - Extract TexMod into a folder, and put the TPF-extension files in the same folder as the TexMod executable. 3 - Open TexMod, and click the big yellow folder icon. Navigate to "deadrising2.exe" in your DR2 installation directory. Select it, and hit "okay". 4 - Make sure "Package Mode" is highlighted in the row of three buttons in the middle of the TexMod window. 5 - Click the button above the X, in the column of buttons between the two text boxes.(It looks like a gray box.) 6 - Select your TPF-extension files("texture.tpf" or some such.) and hit "okay". 7 - Click "Run" and you're set! Hope this helps people out.

From closed thread: Posted by inquisitordragoon on Oct 15, 2010, 11:03am i followed this tutorial after extracting and editing: Using TexMod
I edited my texture, but the texmod part doesn't work.
Where i get stuck is the TPF part, i don't have that file, the log part, and the "above the X button" part.
What am i doing wrong? i'm using the steam version, not cracked.
Posted by ethos on Oct 16, 2010, 8:03amSo you are using "Logging mode" in Texmod ? Choose ingame tex by "+" and "-" and "enter" to save them (Doing this will create a .log text file where you save the tex) Edit the Tex and overwrite them Now go in "Package build" ( .log file is needed here), choose the Files where your tex are saved and where the .log file is (should be the same folder) And just clic Build for compiling in a TPF file
Now in package mode, choose your TPF file (Folder ICON just above the Red Cross) and Run !
Hope this helps Posted by bananeensucre on Oct 16, 2010, 11:38amDon't forget to use the '*' which filters textures keeping only the displayed ones. Simplifies the search process. From closed thread: Problems with Texmod?Posted by pizzamanopenup on Oct 14, 2010, 6:31amTexmod won't even run for me...I try to right click it (to run as admin, hoping that will make a difference) and windows explorer CRASHES. I'm on 64 bit Vista. What the hell? Posted by dany25 on Oct 14, 2010, 8:07amuse a crack because the original game exe have too much protection Posted by soapp on Oct 14, 2010, 9:46amSometimes you're anti-virus will block Texmod. Or other protection software. Basically Texmod is a alteration tool, so it's viewed as a treat to your PC. But I never had the problems you're describing.
Crashing you're windows is uncommon though. Id think about getting Texmod from another source, perhaps the one you got isn't good. Posted by ethos on Oct 14, 2010, 10:09amSteam DR2 version ? From closed post: Posted by ChuckTheFukUp™ on Oct 11, 2010, 6:50pmOk so with Texmod do you have to start the game every time with it and the packages you want to load or are they there after you run it the one time? Posted by ethos on Oct 11, 2010, 7:11pmYou have to start the game every time with it and Tpf package From closed thread: Texture just goes black/wrong ingame? Posted by rausheim on Oct 7, 2010, 10:40pmI've read the two or three tutorials regarding reskinning, but I don't understand squat from them.
Well, at least I think so. I'm able to extract the files (DDS), edit them. THEN I think my problem occur. I just remove the .dds behind them. I've also tried to edit the header in the .DDS file using UltraEditor (That one is like greek to me), but not the result I was after.
I'm editing the swat uniform into a AZU-kind of armor (Digital camo etc).
Method 1: when renaming TheTexture.dds to TheTexture the texture only becomes black in game.
Method 2: (Trying) to use UltraEditor, the texture ingame gets alot of white lines. And I'm not sure if I can see the texture I made under neath this.
Note: I've not done anything with normals, specs etc.
This is extremely frustrating, as this is a fun game and I both work with game development and regular modding more or less full time. And I want to mod this game
So, anyone got a SPECIFIC tutorial on how to do reskins. The ones I found I could not make any sense out of. Posted by soapp on Oct 8, 2010, 12:59pmI can't help you for specifics just started modding myself. But your problem might have to do with the DDS having layers to the image.
Not sure exactly how to explain it. But your DDS image might have a transparent layer on top of the actual image, and your editing program changes the transparency to a color, making it all white or black, thus covering you're image..
Perhaps a different editing program might help. Not totally sure though, just a thought. Posted by sweetc on Oct 9, 2010, 4:07pmFrom Texmod save as .png (as it has transparency) Use photoshop. Posted by locomf on Oct 10, 2010, 8:21amYou save it in a wrong format from photoshop settings, and i also trying to skin them with quickbms with \dxt1 alpha \use ex. minimaps but the image stretch in game, we need to find the default dds settings to work right

Close thread texmod on steam version?: Posted by snorky on Oct 7, 2010, 2:38pmHow can I get texmod to work with the steam version? I tried renaming texmod to "deadrising2.exe" so it opens from steam, but when i get to the menu GFWL wont let me sign in, it just closes and reopens the menu, doing nothing.
Sorry if that was confusing, it was a little hard to explain :/ Posted by Wizard on Oct 7, 2010, 3:11pmRenaming texmod to deadrising2.EXE? That's way wrong You want to launch the real deadrising2.exe BY Texmod,
Or have you already done that, and it doesn't work? Posted by snorky on Oct 7, 2010, 3:14pmlol no i renamed texmod so it would open from steam, and opened the real dead rising 2 with texmod. I only renamed it so steam would open texmod instead of dead rising 2 Posted by Slappy lives on Oct 7, 2010, 5:39pmYou can start the game directly from TexMod. Just press "Run" after selecting DEADRISING2.EXE as the target application. Posted by snorky on Oct 7, 2010, 6:08pmyea but i cant open steam in-game :/ anyways thanks for the help, I'll keep trying. Posted by ethos on Oct 7, 2010, 6:30pmSo you try this method ? -Rename deadrising2.exe to deadrising2Original.exe -Rename Texmod.exe to deadrising2.exe -Launch the game via Steam, it should execute Texmod instead of the game. -Click on the folder icon below "Target Application" then select your deadrising2Original.exe -Now, you need to select TPF package (click on the folder icon just above the red cross) Posted by snorky on Oct 7, 2010, 7:32pmyes thats what i tried, i'll try again just to be sure though Posted by expmini on Oct 8, 2010, 5:57amWe can't juste remplace definitely the textures ? Posted by snorky on Oct 8, 2010, 6:38am^ That would be a lot better. Posted by soapp on Oct 8, 2010, 12:55pmYeah Texmod works good directly with the game, but you loose the ingame Steam. Don't think there's a way around it, unless you mod the game directly. Posted by snorky on Oct 8, 2010, 2:15pmAlright, thanks. I guess its not that important anyway.
