ProjectAlpha-Test001 was to create a Megaman 1 costume. This was the first idea I have had in terms of adding a new costume which would be more or less a retool of protoman. Would be a new costume not to replace the protoman costume. -Remove the scarf(Special thanks to Solidcal) -Repaint the protoman chest texture red->blue, grey->light blue etc..(Me!) -same for feet, helmet(possibly remove the visor(Special thanks to Solidcal)) -I do have a basic recolor protomans buster(now blue)(Special thanks to Freako) as a weapon w/ no shield. Possibly release seperate to the Costume? This is just a replacement of Protoman at the moment, i'm working on seperating it into it's own item.

Oh good luck with this. If you want any help you can just ask me. Also you'll need to use Mario's 3ds model importer/editor script in 3ds max to remove certain bits of the protoman outfit. Heres a very complicated vid Mario did. He explains what to do but it is hard to understand if you don't know much of 3ds max before hand. But once you watch it a few times you'll get a general idea of how the script works. So good luck with this.

I think the furthest I got back in the day was 3dsmax 2 or 3, I didnt even get really too far into it. I can do this but it would take a little refresher on my part. I have a feeling the worst part is going to be the scarf. Maybe I will just start with a straight up repaint of the protoman costume and go from there.

WOW! This is alot harder than modding skyrim. I have no idea what to do now, can you even use texmod with OTR? I was lost at TPF file, no idea what I to do now.
nevermind I think I got around that, I was trying to find all the files for the texture tools and some links were down but google.com is my friend again.. back to work!

It does but we don't really use texmod at ll these past couple of years since we can reskin and edit the outfit textures firectly. You can unpack the outfit models texture file with the big etractor script file thats included with mario's model importer script. The only issue with it,is that it messes up Frank's camer texture. But there is a way around it. It really is gonna be tough but if you put in the time an patience you'll get it.

So I reskinned the file and when I put it back together first I got the all black model. So I went back and did everything from scratch again and this time I got the texture through however at a distance the helmet is kinda rainbow colored. When you bring the camera closer though you can see through that and the texture is there. I guess I will go back and edit all the texture files in the helmet tex and see if that works.

That's cause of how the file has to get repacked. It works off the bigfile.xml for some reason. Anyway if you send me the textures I can get them added in correctly for you if you like Like the base textures. Not the edited texture files. Just the textures

Watching the video again while I am at work, I got MAX 8 and PS again last night(I dont even know if they are good copies and worth a crap yet). I want to learn all this model stuff later, trying to sift through everything just to understand the reskinning aspect of it.

Well i have photoshop and i tested it this morning and still got the black model, i have messed with the header in ultraedit so many times i feel like im going crazy. Still I will start from scratch later and retrace my steps and experiment but im not convinced you use the same header mehid fo OTR but what the hell do I know. When i just copied the first seven lines from the original cm file to the edited dds file it showed me more of the texture with that out rainbow layer but again... Dead end. Guess i will have to see if this max copy works and i have PS again so hopefully this works out.

I was going to edit my last post but I would like to stress this to new people. I was making a very simple mistake in this process and until you get a handle for it sometimes making a small mistake can set you back. Well it turns out I was at the last step, renaming the wrong file. The copy Ultra Edit makes of the dds file. I was renaming the .dds.bak file which was turning the model all black in my case. Don't do that steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=153844693

So I got it to work, the problem was that GIMP which I use to make textures for SKYRIM... Was funking up the CM file so the header information was a little garbled coming back from being a DDS file. So I redid the chest this morning and I think my header is 1 line off because it was all there just a bit off and I adjusted the header last night when it was not working correctly and was able to fix a similar issue just by adjusting the header. So I will post some full suit pics once I implement everything after work. I don't really want to include a fat frank file because im anti fat frank but we will see .
