Help with Making Frank into a Female
« Thread Started on Aug 17, 2012, 6:09pm »

Hey this is technically one of my first times messing with dead rising in a long time and I could use some help.

I do have most of the tools needed to get going and I have put different stuff together (unpacking big files/repacking).

I'm just having some trouble with one of the mods made by mariokart64n. It's Ada Wong in Re4 outfit. I managed to get her over top of frank successfully, but she has franks hair still appear, her skeleton doesn't seem to be right, and her voice is still franks.

For the skeleton: Does that have to do with the datafile.big? Or is there more to it than that. I also want to make it so it doesn't effect the skeleton of Chuck when playing in online.

For the voice: I have a Rebecca voice mod I downloaded a while ago, and tried to replace it within the streamedassets.big and replace the fx_main.big into it, however when I did so it didn't work properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and with this necessary help I was considering trying to make a full female model swap for Frank West in the story (if not use the already done Chuck into Stacy mod with customizable outfits).

The Rebecca voice mod is for DR2, I think. Ask Freako about the model issues, I'm not too good on that.

You think there is any voice mods for Frank? If not I guess it's ok, but how about the skeleton? Is there anyway around this?

Yes, there are skeleton files you must replace. I think they are in the anims folder. I'm currently AFK so I can't tell which files they are.

You don't need to replace any model file in OTR anymore. You could pretty much use the adding new outfits method. As the name suggests you just add the ada wong model in as a new wearable outfit.I can do this for you.Well update or post this in a little while with the results.

Update: Well I got ada added in as a new outfit.Theres some clipping on it due to the male skeleton, also the male skeleton makes the hands go all scrunched up too.But this should be fixed when you replace the male skeleton with the female one.

Heres a pic of Ada added as a new outfit in the game for frank and chuck to wear.

How did ya get it without the hair to appear on her head? That was my major problem when I tried putting it in the npc.big folder.

As for adding new outfits, how does that work? If it's like the DR1 frank where it puts another little object in the locker room for you to select I would like to try to steer away from that. It's a great idea, but I'd rather have something a little more authentic. Going around the casinos/malls and finding outfits to try on and then it eventually changing your look/character. Get what I mean?

Also solidcal, do you know where the skeleton goes? And make it so it doesn't replace franks?

I think the skeleton is in the anier. Also I used the adding outfits method it is the better to have a new character to play or new outfit in the game and it is easy to uninstall and go back to your normal game.

Do you remember which .big file it is that has all the skeleton data? Also is there a way to make it so frank has a female voice?

If none of these apply, I was thinking of having chuck as the female because of the "Chuck as a Chick Mod." Giving him a female voice/all female models, female skeleton, etc.

The only problem was when I did it, it still showed chucks hands, feet, and head.

skeletons are in /data/skeletons folder, all the player_ files are different parts of the body. unfortunately, Chuck and Frank use the same skeletons, if you swap for Frank then it will swap for Chuck.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the information tommah, it's really unfortunate frank and chuck use the same skeleton. Then again it makes sense. They both happen to be male, so they use the same skeleton. Would be silly to give them different ones.

I would like to ask if there was a way you could help me get rid of franks hair tho. I was having a bit of trouble (without using the method solidcal provided).

It looks kinda like this:

headwear_base? Interesting, if I open it up in a hex editor, and erase all the data and resave it, will it appear invisible then? I think I tried, but it errored out. Mind kinda explaining how to go about this?
